PLACING BOOM OPERATOR
CONCRETE PUMP OPERATOR
The Concrete Pump Operator is a key team member of our pumping operations and reports to the Pumping
Division Manager. This position is responsible for using the pumping equipment as well as cleaning and maintaining it to ensure that the equipment is running at optimal level at all times. The Operator may also be responsible for operating and maintaining the placing boom as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Setting-up the concrete truck at the job site
-
Installing hardline pump(s)

Installing slick line and hoses on pump raises and installs
-
Maintaining the pumps by greasing all points, as required daily, weekly, or monthly
-
Operating the pump boom in a safe and conscientious manner
-
Keeping the boom unit spotless; washing and cleaning the boom after each pour to keep it free of concrete build-up

Cleaning out the hoses and lines etc.

Ensuring that pump trucks are kept clean and well maintained

Identifying and recognizing problems for preventing issues in order to keep the pump running in optimum working order at all times

Completing the required Boom Pump inspection forms, maintenance forms, and maintenance records

Complying with all WorkSafe (WCB) procedures and safety practices including on site work practices and guidelines
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
-
At least three (3) years of experience working on Concrete Pumps

Experience working with placing booms is considered an asset
-
Experience in maintaining hydraulics, jacking and mechanics to keep the pump in optimum working condition

Must have and maintain a Valid Class 3 Drivers licence (Drivers Abstract required)

CCPO (Certified Concrete Pump Operator) qualification desirable

Knowledge of construction industry and/or concrete forming is preferred

Knowledge of WorkSafe (WCB) procedures/safety practices
-
Knowledge of concrete and mix designs (slump characteristics) is preferred

Ability to communicate effectively in English; verbal and written
-
Ability to take direction, follow safety procedures and ensure site cleanliness
-
Ability to problem-solve, apply reasoning and sound judgement in all situations
-
Ability to be resilient and maintain professionalism and a positive attitude when working under pressure
-
Effective interpersonal skills in collaborating with Site Superintendents, General Contractors, other
-
Concrete Pumping Operators and Concrete Truck Operators

Must be willing and able to work overtime as required
-
Must have and wear personal protection equipment (PPE), have fall protection gear and the appropriate ticket(s) or we will train
-
Must be able to perform physical work including climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50lbs, may climb scaffolding and ladders

Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
-
Must have a reliable means of transportation to job sites

Must be reliable and dependable
